Today, Mariam Hassan, a University of Oregon undergrad student, works alongside Kasubhai as she learns from his confident and commanding presence in the courtroom.

While the University of Oregon men’s basketball team had their halftime pep talk, fans pulled out their Daisy Ducks bingo cards. Before every game, the Daisy Ducks welcome spectators to Matthew Knight Arena with friendly faces.

As spectators enter Matthew Knight Arena, Daisies hold up several bingo cards expecting them to run out quickly. Bingo cards have been a timeless tradition and the favorite aspect of Oregon basketball games for local Eugene fans.

Every Tuesday, Daisy Ducks President Sandy Karsten opens up the Daisy’s weekly meeting. As President, Karsten chooses a representative to come from the selected Oregon sports team that week. Members have the opportunity to ask questions about that sport and gain insight into the events they will be attending.

On Sunday, February 26th, around 20 Daisies gathered at the women’s lacrosse game at Papé Park. Daisies have known each other for years, and they look forward to sitting together and catching up on their daily lives.

Over the years the Daisy Ducks have accomplished the creation of “Daisy’s Diner” inside of Matthew Knight Arena. Daisies raised money for years and now stand in front of their hard work and dedication. This group of Daisies come together and make memories alongside each other simply through the distribution of bingo cards.

Nelson’s student library showcases how many books she has thrifted, with her own money, and received as donations over her time as a teacher. Without sufficient funds for supplies and books, the teachers have to be resourceful.

Marley’s Monsters

After talking to the Founder and President, Sarah Dooley, we can learn about the up-and-coming sustainable home goods brand, Marley’s Monsters. Through this video, I identified how the company came to be, how they are doing today, and what they hope to see in the future.
Common Ground Garden

On 21st and Van Buren Street in Eugene, Oregon, the Common Ground Garden comes together every Saturday as a part of Friendly Area Neighbors. This garden comprises neighbors working together to grow a vacant city lot into a vibrant food-sharing garden. They connect through food security awareness and grow everything from squash to chives.
The volunteer coordinator, Anne Donahue, designates what task needs to be done and where to go as volunteers arrive.
Another volunteer coordinator tends to the bed of lettuce the garden has grown since they started up again in March.
A volunteer, who specializes in pollinating insects, identifies the herbs throughout the pollinated plants she consistently takes care of.
Another volunteer pulls out an old root to refurbish the bed and prepare for new vegetables to be planted.
